escargot

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

my little cousins are so grown up now. these are the same girls that used to follow me around! these are the same girls that used to laugh and scream as i chased them around. now they are teenagers. they wear make up now and are showing their own style. they also have boyfriends now. i don’t mean boys who are friends, but boyfriends!

danica and dara are now in high school. although these girls worry abouPicture_009 t their hair and cloths, are constantly on the cell and love to shop as regular teenagers do, these girls are over achievers like their brother justin. these kids are editors of the school news papers, spelling B champions, writing contest champions, they run the student body as president and are voted prom king/princess. they all go to a school of over achievers.

the girls are taking french at school. why? i don’t know why. spanish is a much more useful language for them especially in california. well, because i’m all about teaching and giving and sharing experiences, i took them out to eat at a french cafe. they said that if they ordered in french, they would get extra credit in their french class. well of course i wanted to help. we went to le diplomate cafe at the brea mall. the girls were sooo ready to order in french when we bumped into a little problem. the server was latino and did not speak a lick of french. what ended up happening was that the girls ordered french onion soup and a nicoise salad. i let the girls try brie. they loved the brie. we all decided that the next time we get together to break bread, we would do escargot! danica was open to it while dara was squeemish about the idea of puting a gross ass snail into her mouth.

well, they both finally put that gross ass snail in their mouth this weekend. i took them to a french cafe in SF on maiden lane in union square. it was perfect! we sat outside under the sun with cigarette smoke blowing our way and thePicture_002  best thing of all was that we sat infront of the yves st. laurent store! how much more parisian can you get!?!
