i’m affraid of failure
Friday, December 1st, 2006i’m not usually one who likes mass emails - especially the cheesy gushy kind, but i got one from my cousin and i actually stopped and read it.
failure is something that i’m currently afraid of right now. i watched a movie called little miss. sunshine while in paris and that movie made me think about failure even more.
i have this thing that i have to prove that i am strong enough to make it on my own and that i CAN do it solo. with that kind of pressure placed upon myself, needless to say, i’ve got the fear of failure. i guess it’s smart to remember that at least i’m giving it a try and i was able to find enough courage somewhere to take a huge risk.
here’s what he sent:
DON’T BE AFRAID TO FAIL
You’ve failed many times, although you may not remember,
You fell down the first time you tried to walk.
You almost drowned the first time you tried to swim, didn’t you?
Did you hit the ball the first time you swung a bat?
Heavy hitters, the ones who hit the most home runs, also strike out a lot.
R.H.Macy failed seven times before his store in New York caught on.
English novelist John Creasey got 753 rejection slips before he published 564 books.
Babe Ruth struck out 1,330 times, but he also hit 714 home runs.
DON’T WORRY ABOUT FAILURE.
WORRY ABOUT THE CHANCES YOU MISS WHEN YOU DON’T EVEN TRY
